STAT 150       Interviews of Faculty Members

Some advice that we discussed:

Contact the person by email (preferable) or phone, preferably today.  Ask for 15 minutes of their time.  Schedule the appointment for no later than next Monday (Oct 5).  Make sure that you’re both clear about where/when to show up.  Arrive on time, be courteous and respectful, and thank the person for his/her time when you’re done.

The questions that we decided on:

• Why did you choose statistics as a career?

• Where did you study statistics?

• What else have you done with statistics aside from teaching?

• What is the most interesting thing that you have encountered in your use of statistics?

• How has statistics changed/influenced your perception of the world?

You may also ask other questions that occur to you.

On Tuesday or Wednesday of next week (Oct 6 or 7), you will be asked to give a 2-minute presentation to the class, summarizing what you learned about your faculty member.
