Minitab only runs on computers with the Windows operating system. If you have a
Mac, you can either:
·
Use
Minitab in the campus computer labs
or
·
Find
a way to run Windows on your Mac.
To run Windows on your Mac, there are
two options to explore:
· Purchase Parallels Desktop 4.0 for Mac for $80.
Go
to http://www.parallels.com/
Under
Virtualization Products, click Parallel
Desktop 4.0 for Mac.
(Since
you are already a Mac user, don’t buy the “Switcher” edition for $100.)
· Go to http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/2.1.4/VirtualBox-2.1.4-42893-OSX.dmg to download VirtualBox for the Mac for free. This is just not quite as slick and when you try to install Windows, to accept the license agreement, you need to press F8 and Fn together. (It takes a bit more direction rather than just accepting defaults to install.)
Once you have installed one of these PC Emulators, you should then be able to install Windows on your Macintosh. Students can buy Windows for $79 at El Corral.
Once Windows is installed, follow the directions for installing Minitab on your PC but I believe in Step 3 you will only have the Save option and in Step 5, after you have downloaded the file, you will need to add the “.exe” extension to the file name. Then double clicking on the file should run the install. You will still have to deal with the license file, but you find this directly on the Desktop after the install.
