(a) Identify three quantitative variables that could be recorded on these games.

(b) Identify three categorical variables that could be recorded on these games.

2) Exercise #8 (p. 82)

Hint: Part (c) requires some additional calculations.

4) Exercise #9 (p. 82-3)

Note: You should use technology to create the bar graph in (a), such as Excel, Minitab, etc.  You then need to insert this graph into your written assignment so that it is easily found.

To use Minitab to create a segmented bar graph:

  • Enter the two-way table into columns C1-CY including the row and column names (where Y-1 is the number of EV groups)
  • Choose Graph > Bar Chart, select “Values from a table” from the “Bars represent” pull-down menu; under the Two-way table options, select Stack, press OK.

  • Specify C2-CY in the Graph variables box and C1 in the Row labels box

  • Click Chart Options and select “Show Y as Percent” and “Within categories at level 1 (outermost)”

·               Press OK twice.

To use Excel 2007:

·      Highlight the cells containing the two=way table, including row and column labels.

·      Choose Insert from the mail tool bar

·      Under charts, use the first pull-down menu (Column) to select 2D- Column, and then the third option in that row.
