Stat 301 – Lab 3

Due Tuesday, Oct. 28

The goal of this lab assignment is to learn about and compare different probability sampling methods. You are encouraged to work with one other person and turn in a jointly written report. For the first part of the lab, you may turn in pages from your text with your answers on them, but the second part of the report should be word processed. All output and graphs must be incorporated into the body of the report.

Part 1: Complete Investigation 3.1.2 (p. 181-184)

Hint: See definition of sampling frame on the bottom of p. 177.

Part 2: Complete Exploration 3.1 (p. 200-201). The Minitab worksheet can be found from the “Data files and applets for text” page.

Make sure you include a copy of your macro. Remember you can use Tools > Notepad within Minitab to access the text editor. Also remember to use quotation marks around the file name, keep track of where you put it, and initialize your counter.

Typo: In part (c), it should read:
